Mickey Midnite

Mickey is one of my latest critter acquisitions. I am the webmaster for a no-kill animal shelter in New Orleans called Animal Rescue New Orleans. Everyday, I check my Facebook feed to see how ARNO is doing and to check out the new animals they have. The first time I saw Mickey's photo (back when his name was Midnite) I was in love-a pug mix that was dressed up like a pirate.

I have tried, oh have I tried, to dress up my other critters, but noooo, they aint having it. I bought Bebe a monkey costume and she tried to eat it. So the idea of a dog that liked to play dress up, yea, I was intrigued. Weeks went by and no one adopted him. I went down to ARNO to visit and take some pics and I inquired about Mickey. Seems everyone loved him but no one wanted him, something about black animal bias and the fact he looked old. I let the executive director know I was interested.

A month later, Mickey's foster mom drove her from New Orleans to Jackson, MS to bring him to me. I loved him instantly. Bebe was excited and territorial. Mickey decided all Bebe's bones were his. They are buddies who fight like brother and sister.

Mickey also decided right away that he was sleeping in the bed with me, so now I have a pug on either side of me at night, and they are mooches with the covers :)
